The Asia Challenge Cup

The Asia Challenge Cup is an international tournament bringing together leading clubs from Japan, Australia and Thailand The tournament is held annually in January in Sakai, Osaka.

Invitation only

The tournament is for U12 and U10 age groups, and both girls and boys.

Each age group is limited to twelve teams, comprising a mix of J league academies, local Japanese soccer schools, and teams from across Asia and Australia.

Notable entrants in 2026 were academies from the following J League teams: Vissel Kobe, Cerezo Osaka, Gamba Osaka, Kyoto Sanga.

High standard of football

The level of football is extremely high. We recommend bringing a 13-15 person squad due to the intensity over the 11-day tour. Matches are played 8v8.

The tournament is held over two days:

  • Day 1 is a league format round robin
  • Day 2 features knock-out matches based on Day 1 standings.

Trophies are awarded up to third place in each age bracket.
